"I,
the undersigned, do not agree that all of the existing trees in Market
Square and Market Street should be removed as part of the Kinsey
Probasco & Associates redevelopment plan.
I also believe that in honor of Charles Krutch’s wishes, any
modifications to his legacy park should be undertaken so that the tree
canopy is not immediately reduced significantly from current conditions,
but approached in stages. A
compromise needs to be forged where many of the healthy, mature trees in
these areas are protected, to be supplemented by new plantings where
needed from an ecological, sustainable viewpoint."
